Without hesitation, he immediately ran into the wreckage of the aircraft and searched through it for surviving crew members. As smoke and flames engulfed the aircraft, Specialist Davis found two injured crew members. He carried them to safety and got them onboard a Medevac helicopter. Upon evacuation ion from the area, rounds exploded, leaving nothing but the aircraft frame. Specialist Davis' heroic action that day earned him the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device for valor.
