Biography

First Lieutenant Euanks distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as aircraft commander of a utility helicopter Involved in the emergency resupply of a friendly outpost under enemy attack, in Chuong-Thien Province Republic of Vietnam. Lieutenant Eubanks had to expose himself and his aircraft to enemy fire in order to accomplish the resupply. To minimize the exposure time he flew through moderately concealed areas, maneuvering through isolated tree stands. His third approach was met by enemy fire, and it was reported by the United States Advisor that a large enemy ambush had been sprung. Even though three different entries had to be made into the landing zone, Lieutenant Eubanks handling of the aircraft resulted in a successful mission and no friendly casualties. For his actions on this day, First Lieutenant Eubanks was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with V Device for bravery while in aerial support of friendly forces.
